What Is the Support at Home Program?
The Support at Home program is part of Australia’s aged care reform, designed to make care simpler, fairer, and more flexible for older Australians who wish to live independently. Through our partnership with Trilogy Care, Astute Living Care will help you understand your classification, manage your quarterly budget, and maximise your funding.
Instead of four home care package levels, the new system offers:

On 1 November 2025, all existing Home Care Packages moved automatically to the Support at Home program. You kept your services and your funding, and your care is now managed through a simpler quarterly budget. Our team can walk you through how your budget works.
Support at Home replaced the four Home Care Package levels with eight funding classifications and a quarterly budget. It also includes short-term support for restorative care, assistive technology and home modifications, and end-of-life care at home. Since 1 October 2026, personal care is also fully funded by the Australian Government for approved clients.
Since 1 October 2026, there is no out-of-pocket contribution for personal care. If personal care is approved in your Support at Home plan and you have funds available in your quarterly budget, the Australian Government now covers it in full. Personal care includes help with showering, dressing, eating, personal hygiene, continence support and taking medication. You do not need to do anything to be eligible, and you can keep your current provider. Services delivered before 1 October still attract the usual contribution. Clinical care, such as nursing, is also fully funded. Contributions may still apply to other services like cleaning, gardening and meals, depending on your income and assets.
